EQ2Emulator offers support for many different Retail Box Sets of the Everquest II Client. The current status on which client is supported is listed below. Note that no client is 100% compatible, since the server is still in an Alpha Development state. Those which are partially compatible still may not work 100% of the time, due to the evolution of the server itself.

This client was not a Retail Box set, but instead was a digital download mid-way between Sentinel's Fate and Destiny of Velious. Some players might have preserved a backup of this client, who's Everquest2.exe version is around version 6353L or so. If so, you can use this client to connect to EQ2Emulator as well.

Players - Compatable Clients

Return to: Players | Tutorials | Portal | Forum | Project Manager | Bug Tracker

The current status on which client is supported is listed below. Note that no client is 100% compatible, since the server is still in an Alpha Development state. Those which are partially compatible still may not work 100% of the time, due to the evolution of the server itself.

The details below are current, as of the summer 2015.

Suggested Clients

Destiny of Velious - box set
Chains of Eternity - digital download

Unsupported Compatible Clients

Rise of Kunark - Connects but has major issues
Sentinel's Fate - Connects and has some issues
Halas Reborn -unable to test at this time

Partially Supported Clients

Tears of Veeshan
Alter of Malace

Incompatible Clients

Age of Discovery
Live Client

Rise of Kunark

This retail box set is no longer supported. Although you can connect and play, no further effort towards compatibility is being made by the EQ2Emulator Development Team.

As of April, 26 2015 Jabantiz has confirmed that this client will connect, but has major issues and is strongly advised against using this client.

The Shadow Odyssey

This retail box set is no longer supported. Although you can connect and play, no further effort towards compatibility is being made by the EQ2Emulator Development Team.

This client has not been tested lately. It is best if you do not use this client.

Sentinel's Fate

This is the oldest client retail box set is no longer supported. We do not support the retail box directly, but a "patched" version of this box set should be the most compatible as of this writing. (see this thread)

As of April, 26 2015 Jabantiz has confirmed that this client will connect, but has some issues. It is advised to use a different client.

Halas Reborn

This client was not a Retail Box set, but instead was a digital download mid-way between Sentinel's Fate and Destiny Unsupported Some players might have preserved a backup of this client, who's Everquest2.exe version is around version 6353L or so. If so, you can use this client to connect to EQ2Emulator as well.

This client has not been tested lately.

Destiny of Velious

This is the last known Retail Box Set provided by Sony, and therefore will likely be the last Retail Box Set EQ2Emulator supports. This is also the best option to get a supported client. Order a copy from places like Amazon, EBay, or Half.com.

Age of Discovery

Everquest 2 went "Free to Play" in the Age of Discovery expansion. This changed the entire dynamic of how EQ2Emulator will progress and support clients in the future. Since EQ2 is now "free" essentially, emphasis on supporting the latest clients in an Emulator has taken a lower priority to making the last Retail Box set 100% compatible (DoV).

However, as of 2013 focus has shifted once again towards keeping live compatible.

Moving forward with any new client support from AoD+ will rely on the individual player taking backups of their EQ2 Live clients as they play EQ2 Live.

AoD is currently NOT supported by EQ2Emulator. When it is, if it is at all, this Wiki page will be updated.

Chains of Eternity

About 85% or higher of clients released in the Chains of Eternity expansion are compatible with the EQ2Emu project. (Most clients from the beginning of 2013-November 2013)

Tears of Veeshan

Almost all clients in the Tears of Veeshan era can connect. Support is updated bi-monthly roughly.

Alter of Malace

There are a few clients working, but not many. If there is enough call for it support can be added but won't be high priority due to the small team at the time.
